2025 Conference Activities

A sampling of conference activities by Research Network members during the last year includes:

International Religious Freedom Summit, Washington, DC, February 2025.

Network member Sara Colm joined US officials and representatives from the Montagnard, Hmong, and Khmer Krom communities for a panel discussion on Religious Persecution of Indigenous Communities in Vietnam.

Minority Health Conference, UNC Chapel Hill, February 28, 2025.

Together with the Montagnard Association, the Network brought out community representatives from the Afghan, Bhutanese, Karenni, Liberian, Montagnard and Swahili-speaking communities as one of 22 table exhibitors. This was an excellent opportunity for community representatives and health workers to meet others, share ideas, and break down barriers.

Community Partnerships Conference, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, March 26, 2025.

Research Network Members Marthalenar Nya Mar (L), Ana Sucaldito (C), and Andrew Young (R) participated in this conference, titled Amplifying Community Partnerships to Advance Healthcare Access and Research for All. Ana Sucaldito presented a paper about the successful,ongoing work she has led partnering with the Karenni Communityof Winston-Salem.

Cone Health Foundation and the Refugee and Immigrant Advocacy Coalition

Building Tomorrow: Immigrant and Refugee Convening! Greensboro, June 25, 2025. Network members participated in Cone Health’s gathering, which sought community and stakeholder input in shaping health strategies for Greensboro’s diverse populations.

Ways of Knowing Symposia Series, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Evidence for Action, and Partners for Advancing Health Equity, August and November 2024.

During 2024, MANC and the Research Network were invited to participate in several Ways of Knowing Symposia sponsored by the Evidence for Action, and Partners for Advancing Health Equity . The August 2024 session in Greenville, SC, which focused on Community-led Health Research , was followed by a culminating event in November in St. Louis that identified key Principles and Practices for More Inclusive, Anti-racist & Anti-colonial Health Equity Research
